Happy #501 Day from Levi's

On May 20th, 1873, Levi’s® invented a simple jean that would forever change the way people dress. For over a century, the 501® jean has been worn, torn, repaired, mixed, mastered and styled every way possible. Worn by generations – from workers to rock stars to Presidents – the 501® jean defines style and self-expression. The 501 ® jean has carefully evolved into a family of coveted fits, and with every second, it’s being continuously redefined across the globe.

To celebrate the birthday of the blue jean and anniversary of its invention, Levi’s® is releasing a collection of two limited pieces including a men’s 501® Original Jean and Trucker VestAdditional #501Day celebrations include concerts around the world (San Francisco, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, Shanghai, Mumbai) as well as the latest installment of the 501® documentary series, launching on May 20th.

The fifth and latest episode, “The 501® Jean: Stories of an Original, Music”, will debut on May 20th to commemorate the birthday. It explores the relationship between music history, Levi’s® and the 501®, featuring iconic musicians such as Solange and Snoop Dogg.

In its 144-year-old history, the iconic 501® jean has always had an undeniable presence within music on and off the stage. To celebrate the way music and Levi’s® are inextricably intertwined, the 501® Day celebration collection features three pieces that honor rock ‘n’ roll.  The collection features hand-distressed denim, scribbled embroidery and vintage customizations.
The Levi’s® design team went on a road trip to the American music capitals of Austin, Nashville, New York and San Francisco, doodling and sketching memories captured from each leg of the tour. These visual remembrances make up the celebration collection with nods to each city– bats for Austin, Golden Gate Bridge for San Francisco, Folk City for New York, Music Row for Nashville and more.
