Yorkdale puts Canada’s fashion designers at the centre of style with #FashionCAN 2017
Retail pop up complements the runway debut of designers’ Fall/Winter 2017 collections
at Canada’s most successful shopping centre.

Yorkdale Shopping Centre will once again play host to Canada’s top fashion designers as they present their Fall/Winter 2017 collections on the runway at FashionCAN, February 28 and March 1. Yorkdale is collaborating with CAFA, THE COLLECTIONS and Monarch Events Group for the second time to launch two days of runway presentations from designers such as Mikhael Kale, Jennifer Torosian and UNTTLD. The FashionCAN Pop Up will also play a pivotal role in the event, allowing designers to merchandize and sell direct to consumers at Canada’s most successful shopping centre.

@mylamarque - LAMARQUE
LAMARQUE focuses on achieving the essence of contemporary style with each design. The trademark effortlessly chic look of LAMARQUE is staple leather designs made sophisticated each season by mixing in inspiration and innovation. Creative Director Ifigenia Papadimitriou transposes the signature nonchalant luxury of the brand in every single piece of the collection from outerwear to dresses, knits, leggings, bags, and accessories. This year's runway collection consisted on well-constructed outer wear for both males and females. The collection was focused on the neutral colour tones, but it was structured in a way that you are able to see the shape of the model. In other words, the jacket did not hide the forms of the models, but instead in enhanced their looks.

@_narces - NARCES
NARCES is a Toronto-based women's wear line that specializes in special occasion, evening wear, prom, and bridal dresses. Designer and Creative Director Nikki Wirthensohn Yassemi brings her international background to her aesthetic, having been born in Austria and growing up in Iran and the UK before moving to Canada, where she now resides. Throughout her upbringing, Nikki was surrounded by design, art, and fashion. Her mother worked with esteemed British tailor to the Royal Family, Victor Edelstein who is renowned for having created some of Princess Diana’s most iconic gowns. Everyone has an obsession and Nikki Wirthensohn Yassemi is my obsession. I love her collection for her detailed work and unique creations. Her pieces always reminds me that as a women you can always dress up as a princess or a queen. Her pieces would compliment any body and this year she released her kid collections - it was fabulous!!

@whitneylinen - Whitney Linen
Whitney Linen creates with linen and linen blends using innovative designs to reshape the world’s oldest and most luxurious fabric into contemporary essentials. Adhering to ethical and sustainable practices is an integral part of its DNA; linen is one of the most environmentally friendly fabrics in the world and the entire Whitney Linen collection is manufactured in Canada. A breath of fresh air!!! This year's runway collection made me want to go back to summer, with the casual and breezy outfit the came on to the runway. Sometime keeping it simple is everything and Whitney Linen's collection is a proof of that.

@CBatesMenswear - Christopher Bates
 
Christopher Bates has chosen his real name to represent himself in the fashion world. He was educated at Istituto Marangoni in Milan, a renowned institution synonymous with fashion, design and art. Since his debut, this intrepid designer has achieved a meteoric rise in the fashion industry. In 2014 he established his headquarters in Milan to produce, with pride, in this splendid country.The determination that Christopher Bates expresses is almost palpable, and apparent in every aspect of his life. He is versatile and particularly focused on beautiful, innovative details. He has an innate curiosity and is inspired by anatomy, architecture, geometry and also from other art forms such as cooking. His style icons are Sean Connery’s James Bond, James Dean, Steve McQueen, Cary Grant, and David Bowie. Men who ruled the fashion world with their stunning well tailored outfits and style.

@paulhardyinc - Paul Hardy
Paul Hardy began his design career in 2002 at Toronto Fashion Week where his first collection saw a host of rave reviews. In 2009, Hardy was also honoured by being one of five Canadian designers featured in the international book “Young Designers of the Americas”. Paul Hardy’s designs have been sold and marketed internationally. This 2017 Fall and Winter collection is definitely a trend setter, with different types of textures to unique material combinations. The colour palette was not the ordinary, but a fashion trendsetter.

@mikhaelkale - Mikhael Kale

Mikhael Kale is known for his conceptual approach to fashion design with attention to detail, craftsmanship and tailoring. A student of London’s Central Saint Martins, whose illustrious alumni includes Stella McCartney and the late Alexander McQueen. Mikhael’s creative approach began in Milan with esteemed labels such as Antonio Marras and Bally, later leading to a design position with Exte under the tutelage of Sergio Ciucci and Alessandro De Benedetti. This year's collection, one of the mostly colourful presentation on the runway. The textures and the simplicity of the pieces are the key factors of this collection.
