at Canada’s most successful shopping centre.

Yorkdale Shopping Centre will once again play host to Canada’s top fashion designers as they present their Fall/Winter 2017 collections on the runway at FashionCAN, February 28 and March 1. Yorkdale is collaborating with CAFA, THE COLLECTIONS and Monarch Events Group for the second time to launch two days of runway presentations from designers such as Mikhael Kale, Jennifer Torosian and UNTTLD. The FashionCAN Pop Up will also play a pivotal role in the event, allowing designers to merchandize and sell direct to consumers at Canada’s most successful shopping centre.

Tara Rivas is the designer and founder of TMR, a Toronto based fashion label specializing in contemporary womenswear. Tara’s European roots and love of fashion kindled her strong desire to design her own collection. Her distinctive sense of style combines the clean lines of Scandinavia with a hint of Latin American verve, which is reflected throughout the line. This season, being her first runway show, she presented a unique selection of pieces that involved cut outs, vibrant fall colours and different elements of texture. Each of the pieces that was present on the runway was absolutely stunning, these would be great to own in your closet. Even thought its the mid of winter, this collection would make you wish if it were autumn again.

@Sentaler at FashionCAN
The luxury outerwear brand SENTALER was established in 2009 by Bojana Sentaler, whose international lifestyle and keen sense of aesthetics are reflected in every detail of her collection. Inspired by the diverse vibrancy and beauty of her journeys, Bojana created SENTALER, a brand showcasing feminine silhouettes in an array of vibrant colours, a brand now known for its signature ribbed sleeve details and hooded wrap coats. This summer, thanks to the Royal Duchess SENTALER's has become a well-known company for their classy jackets with unique sleeves. The runway show was presented in artistic way, which included a ballet performance. Personally, the jackets were all stunning - who says you need to lack fashion due to the cold winters in Canada.

Jennifer Torosian is a women’s ready-to-wear brand built on the principles of utility, luxury, and ease. The label is known for its sport-luxe aesthetic, focused on technical fabrics and streamlined silhouettes. An exceptional blend of style, function and unexpected detail is showcased in each collection. Jennifer Torosian and Raed Ali founded the Toronto-based brand. Her collections tend to create a unique vibe to the classic workwear clothing pieces. The pieces that were produced on the runway was extremely special with a touch of fall colours, furs and different textures (plus not to forget their signature prints were also included in this collection). This collection tends to fit women, since the colours and prints used used in the clothing are natural - it is over the top such as "in someones' face".

#UNTTLD at FashionCAN
The duo behind Montreal label UNTTLD was awarded the title and $30,000 cash prize in the Mercedes-Benz Start Up contest for up-and-coming Canadian designers. As an additional element to the Start Up program, finalists were tasked with creating a "Star Wars"-inspired design. The pair struck gold and took home the $15,000 cash prize with their take on Princess Leia's iconic metal bikini. This year, UNTTLD has also been honored with the Swarovski Emerging Talent prize by the Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards (CAFA). As always, their collection was extremely elegant with the monochrome colours of blacks and whites (but definitely had a pop of red). As always, UNTTLD stole my heart... the collection was breath taking. The pieces were extremely classy with a modest vibe but with the touch of femininity in each any every piece that came down the runway. For the makeup to the detailed headpiece, everything about UNTTLD was just picture perfect. I have been following them since the start and each year, they leave me wanting for more!! Definitely a collection, that would steal the hearts of any fashionistas.

The seasonal line upholds RUDSAK’s heritage of creating distinctive winter wear in a mix of luxe leathers and rich furs, evoking an animal magnetism and raw primitive beauty. Natural shades including sylvan greens, earthy browns, burnt umber and smoked greys dominated the palette, acting as a rich neutral backdrop for vivid bursts of stained crimson and vibrant chartreuse.
