FashionCAN: Day 1 (2016)

Ever since the cancellation of Toronto Fashion Week, many doors have opened in the Toronto Fashion Community. The cancellation of Toronto Fashion Week has led to many fashion events in Toronto. For example, now there a large focus on Startup Fashion Week, TFI Buyers Events as well as this has open doors for new groups to join hands to create a new platform such as City Moguls, Fashion CAN and much more. FashionCAN is an exclusive/private event held for fashion lovers in Canada hosted by Yorkdale Style and Cafa.

@Mackage at #FashionCAN
 Mackage's collection compiled of womenswear, menswear and accessories will showcase tailored cuts and leather detailing. Paired with new styles and silhouettes, the collection is inspired by the idea of a fashion-forward urban metropolis overrun by a winter superstorm and features Mackage's trademarked oversized collars, colourful fur, and wool vests meant for layering. Mackage's collection is a reminder that winter is most here and showcases a great way for style ourselves even during the cold.

#TheFeral at #FashionCAN
The Feral - Formerly Sons of Odin
The Feral is a new label from designer Zakariah Milana and evolved from the success of his former line, Sons of Ódin. Zakariah Milana is a Toronto-based designer with a global following (his work is sold in the U.S. Europe and Asia and is worn by many celebrities and athletes). The Feral expresses the spirit of the brand and the creative direction of the line – wild, non-conformist. Dedicated entirely to a menswear collection, it has drawn the attention of international celebrities and athletes. With a perspective gained from a lifetime of working with artisans and a passion for travel and exploration, recurring accents include rugged, rough-hewn materiality, muted tones and raw finishes.

@shawnhewson at #FashionCAN
Husband-and-wife duo Shawn Hewson and Ruth Promislow found inspiration for their latest fashionable endeavour from a very particular client: their kids. As a result, the founders of men's sportswear label Bustle have ventured into clothing for kids with the launch of Bustle Sprouts for their second season. With pieces ranging from swimsuits to Red-Carpet suits, Bustle offers a full range of menswear – all with a strong focus on fit, unique and luxurious fabrics, attention to details, and of course, signature cheekiness.

@Paulhardyinc at #FashionCAN
Paul Hardy began his design career in 2002 at Toronto Fashion Week where his first collection saw a host of rave reviews. In 2009, Hardy was also honored by being one of five Canadian designers featured in the international book “Young Designers of the Americas”. This particular collection was inspired by the Jewish Legend about Lot's Wife who was turned into a pillar of salt after choosing to retreat back to her life in Sodom & Gomorah. This collection's colour palette is narrative of dark skies, smoke, brimstone, sulphur and salt. The concept tends to teach the audience don't look back but just keep more forward.
